Bloomberg BusinessWeek has named Lance Armstrong 10th in their annual Power 100 list of top athletes. This is not the list of athletes with the biggest muscles or most endurance, but the athletes most sought after by companies to endorse their products. These are athlete with the most income potential as pitchmen.
I’m not sure Bloomberg is a big follower of pro cycling because they describe it as an individual sport.
The easiest route to a high ranking is competing in individual sports. While the NBA and NFL occupy the lion’s share of the rankings — with 22 and 21 players respectively — seven of the 20 most powerful athletes, and 34 of the Power 100, such as Woods, swimmer Michael Phelps, cyclist Lance Armstrong and tennis player Rafael Nadal, avoided sharing glory or camera time with teammates.
I’m not sure how Levi Leipheimer and the rest of Team RadioShack feels about their nonexistence as teammates, although it is true that Lance kinda dominates the cycling media coverage.

2. LeBron James, Basketball
